In cities where space is a premium, if you live alone, try giving the room a look that reflects you. If you are the happy type, try bright vibrant colors and if you are the passionate type try darker, richer shades that reflects your character. Remember, your imagination is the limit so play around to get the look you do desire to achieve. Dont have much for new furniture, walk around the block and look for garage sales and thrift store where you can get stuff that still works but at half the price. Weekend markets where all kinds of stuff are sold is a good place to get theme pieces that will accent your space. An antique lamp, a brass candle holder you fix onto the wall whatever you might fancy you can get in them, just remember the limited space you have for a good buy might just find it’s way back to the place it came from. If you own stuff you dont like, get rid of it for it acts as a sort of reminder of how much you hate it everytime you see it.

No problem for the weekend interior designer that is you. Try to use multifunction furniture that serves a multitude of purposes. A single sofa-bed that turns into a couch and recliner would be a good addition. Try small desks and hanging cabinets so your space down below can still be used. Old room, give it a splash of new paint and try replacing hardware (cabinet handles, Door handles, etc.) with modern ones to give them a sudden modern look. Try furniture on casters that you can move around easily so if you ever decide on changing the look of your room it becomes a breeze to do so.

Got an antique refrigerator heirloom form the old house that doesn’t work? Use it as a Television rack. Get those glass tops you mount from the sides like clamps and store away. Light plays wonders in a small room. Use mirrors and allow a lot of natural light in to make it look spacious even if it really isn’t. Want to save more space with the TV? Get those projector type ones that hang on the ceiling projecting the image onto a blank white wall, no space consumed at all? TV addict with no space, mount them on swing arms so you can turn them anyway allowing you’re to move is as you move around to cook, work and sleep.

They come in all configurations with bag cubicles, and other space for lots of other stuff. You could even get one with closing flaps to prevent dirt from entering your clothes and other stuff. For a more durable look, you could opt for wooden screw on organizers that come in kits complete with fasteners, wall hangers, and shelves and other hardware that allows wasted space to be divided into several smaller and more useful spaces. Wood is more durable and will last a lot longer than canvass but it will also cost more.

Well, if the drawers and other storage space all face in the same direction, then there’s nothing there. If you want to use that square meter or so of space that is wasted, try to look for corner Suzan’s. Remember that round thingy’s in the middle of the round family tables of old; they were called lady Suzan’s for they allowed everybody on the table to reach everything on that round table that swivels around. Now add a couple of layers and you have a corner Suzan that would fit most corners with an angled door.

Platform beds are functional and can serve as a bed frame and a dresser at the same time. It can save you money by spending less on furnitures and will also save you space. Platform beds usually offer drawers where you can store your things. They are perfect for house owners that want to obtain a simple look and at the same time, will conserve space.

If you only have a small bathroom, better consider if you want a shower or a tub. A long bath tub can be space-consuming and is not ideal for a small bathroom. So consider replacing it with a shower. Opt for a sliding door with a clear glass instead of a shower curtain. This will give the illusion of a larger space by illuminating the light. But if you still choose to have a shower curtain, choose those with light colors.
If you still want to have a bath tub in your bathroom, don’t go for the long one, but instead choose one that is deeper.

This being the case, a thorough reading of such a rental agreement that is considered to be a contract/legal document that is not only bonding but honored by the law is in order to avoid problems in the future should you feel the need to break the contract. There is the easier first step of trying to negotiate with the landlord or property owner regarding breaking the contract, where you would always count on compassion/human factor. If there is a valid reason behind your decision to break the contract, such as a vital repair that has safety implications that has not been addressed promptly, you are by law protected and allowed to do so provided proof of such non-compliance with the contract on any side can be justified. Knowing this, you should always have a paper trail to document your moves so as not to be rendered at fault by a crafty landowner. Say repetitive requests for the repair through writing, properly received and noted by the owner and other such proof that you have done all you can to demand your right and have no other course to pursue but to vacate the property without further delay.

Most people who could still afford to rent in these areas are benefiting form the low rent rates but the number of vacancies is indeed rattling property owners who are having to settle for unusual terms for their many rental properties. From offering them on a daily basis for transients, bed spacing or lowering the rent all together, they are having to settle with less profits rather than see them left empty, all the while degrading without any occupants.

Moving from apartment to apartment you may have developed a keen eye for possible problems when it comes to your furnishings, their size weight and “move-ability”. Furniture that is subject to frequent moves are sure to have battle scars from bumps and scratches of you or the movers having to force it through small corridors and even windows. Bring the measuring tape when you scout apartments taking notes of the corridors and doors so you get proper clearance when you bring in all your stuff.
Beds are some of the most difficult to move for they can be large and quite unwieldy, but choosing break-down ones designed for tear-down for such purposes allows painless moves and easy ones at that. People always forget the measuring of all spaces that may be in conflict with your furniture. Have antiques, use ample packaging in the form of bubble wrap and other padding to protect them from moves, being sure to get damage fixed immediately to maintain their beauty. With the above tips, moving should be a tad easier than previous ones. More to come with concerns to small city spaces, till then keep safe, be safe.
