Living in a small place is easier when it comes to cleaning than living in a large house. But one problem in living in a small place is designing and cramping all your things and furnitures inside.
Having open shelves installed in your walls can be space saving but will be an eye sore in seeing all those stuff in the open. However, you can attach curtains and close them to avoid seeing all those clutter. Aside from keeping you from seeing the mess, the curtains also serve as protection of the shelves from dust since open-shelves can easily accumulate dusts.

1. USE LIGHT COLORS
Using light or pastel colors will illuminate the light coming into your room, and thus is an effective way to make your room look larger. Bold or dark colors can be used in the furnitures to not make your room look boring.
2 PLACE MIRRORS AROUND THE ROOM
Placing a large mirror in the room will reflect light around the room. It will not only reflect natural light, but will also reflect artificial light, making your room look brighter not only in the day but also during the night.
3. ARRANGE THE FURNITURES AT ANGLES
Place and arrange the larger furnitures at an angle. Placing them at an angle will lead the eyes along the distance that is longer, rather than at the wall.

If you live near a wooded area or your house has a killer view, then why not consider having large windows that allows the light from the sun to flow through the house. It also allows you to view your surroundings if you happen to be a nature lover. Want sunlight but also need privacy, as with skylights there are models of these windows where tracks are left for the installation of mechanized or manual sun shades. You can even get them tinted so they reflect the heat but allow some of the light to pass through minus the UV rays of the sun. Also, Choose high windows if you live in the woods so when you open them more fresh air can get in. Group several small windows into one large cluster to give an unimpeded view of your house and you get free light all day long.
